Gas Chromatography Info

We use a Agilent 6890N gas chromatograph (GC) with a Merlin Microseal on the injection port and an FID. An Agilent Ultra 2 (cross linked 5% PH ME Siloxane) capillary column (25 M long, 0.2 mm ID) is installed in the GC. Hydrogen is used as the carrier gas with nitrogen as the make-up gas. Fatty acid methyl esters are in a 50:50 mix of hexane and methyl tertiary butyl ether. The system is controlled by a Dell Pentium 4 PC with MIDI and Chemstation software.. The total run time for each sample is approximately 20 minutes. Our GC is currently maintained in good working order under a service contract with Agilent Technologies. They provide us with routine maintenance as well as repairs. Technical support is provided by MIDI.
