Curriculum Vitae

My basic research interest is in the area of fungal systematics. I am especially interested in the phylogenetic relationships between the epigeous Dicomycetes (Pezizales) and hypogeous truffles (Tuberales). My research involves cytology, development, and ultrastructure of these fungi, especially the manner of ascus dehiscence, ascosporogenesis, and septal pore plugging, I also teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in basic and advanced mycology and in biology and taxonomy of mycorrhizae. As curator of the Fungal Herbarium, I spend approximately one-third of my time in extension and curatoral activities.
