Myrothecium leaf spot of cantaloupe

Fungal causal agent: Myrothecium roridum

Symptoms: Small, black circular lesions on the leaves. The lesions can merge as seen in the picture causing large necrotic areas. The center of the spots fall down usually. Raised black fruiting bodies (named sporodochia) can be noticed on lesions. 

Management:. Minimize injury to plants throughout the season. Preventative fungicide applications are necessary. Apply fungicides early in the season to reduce inoculum.  Check http://premier.cdms.net/webapls/formsloginRef.asp?/webapls for current labels.
