Aschochyta leaf spot of clematis
Sep 14, 2013 6:52 AM
Fungal causal agent: Aschochyta clematidina
Symptoms: Water-soaked regions of the leaves is the initial symptom. The lesions are brown spots/blotches.
Management: Air movement between the vines is very important in disease management. Remove all infected leaves and vines. Manage irrigation to reduce long term high moisture inside the canopy. Preventative fungicide applications are necessary in high intensity production areas. Apply fungicides early in the spring to cover previous years growth to reduce inoculum load. Certain Clematis sp. are resistant to the disease. Check http://premier.cdms.net/webapls/formsloginRef.asp?/webapls for current labels in ornamental production.
