Phytophthora root rot of boxwood

May 25, 2014 6:42 AM

Oomycete causal agent: Phytophthora spp.

Symptoms: Plants decline in vigor and die branch by branch over a period of several months, but sometimes they can die rapidly.

Management:. Plant boxwood in well drained areas. In areas where root rot susceptible plants have died, replant with plants that are not susceptible to root rot. In addition apply fungicides early to reduce inoculum. Check http://premier.cdms.net/webapls/formsloginRef.asp?/webapls for current labels.
