    About

I joined the faculty of the UF Department of Plant Pathology in 2019, with responsibilities in research and extension on Tree Health Genetic Resources. My research program is focused on developing disease tolerant tree crops and my extension program delivers these varieties to a range of stakeholders. I work with forest and tree crop managers in Florida, the US, and abroad to develop more efficient disease screening and breeding programs.

    • Education

Ph.D. Statistics/Quantitative Genetics, University of Queensland, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, 2013

M.S. Genetics, University of Florida, 1998

B.S. Forest Management, University of Florida, 1996

    • Research

The goal of my research program is to develop disease screening systems and breeding programs that deliver disease tolerant varieties.  Specific goals of my program are to evaluate the efficiency of disease screening methods and to integrate resistance gene selection into breeding programs. Many projects represent multi-disciplinary collaborations developed to have industrial and development outcomes both domestically and abroad.
