About
I am Navdeep Kaur, a Ph.D. student in Plant Pathology at the University of Florida, working in Dr. Frank White’s lab and co-advised by Dr. Jose Huguet-Tapia. Originally from Punjab, India, I began my academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences from Punjab Agricultural University (2022), followed by a Master’s in Plant Pathology from Auburn University, which I completed in December 2024.
My research focuses on unraveling the complex mechanisms of plant-pathogen interactions, with a particular emphasis on how bacterial pathogens infect plants and the molecular responses that follow. I am especially passionate about utilizing bioinformatics tools to analyze genomic data, providing insights into pathogen evolution, virulence factors, and resistance mechanisms. Through my work, I aim to contribute to disease control strategies in agriculture.
In my free time, I love immersing myself in music—whether it's listening, singing, or playing the guitar—and enjoying the serenity of nature.
