  • About

Hi reader! My name is Renato, I am from Brazil and Ph.D. Student at the University of Florida. For many and many years I had been studying Chemistry sciences but after my first experience working with plants, I fell in love. I felt so in love that I decided to switch from complexes solutions, numbers and elements to investigate plants and their pathogens. My researches are based on the application of nanotechnology to field diseases management as well as the mode of action of the new elements in the pathogen structures.

  • Education
    • Ph.D. Plant Pathology, University of Florida, 2022
    • M.B.A. Phytosanitary, Agronomic Institute of Campinas, December 2016
    • B.S. Technological Chemistry, Federal University of São Carlos, January 2015
    • B.S Chemistry, Federal University of São Carlos, December 2010
  • Research

Development of a hybrid nanomaterial against bacterial spot of tomato caused by copper-tolerant Xanthomonas perforans strains and understanding the mode of action of the nanomaterial on the bacterial cell using spectroscopic and microscopic approaches is one of my research areas. I am also initiating a research on the identification of novel protectants for management of white fly transmitted viruses on watermelon in Florida
