Severe wind can blow sand on to the plant causing marginal to significant damage on leaves and pods of beans. The symptoms may appear on upper and underside of the leaves.

The soil blown by wind act like an abrasive on leaves. If wet conditions prevail, these damaged sections could serve as areas for infection for many fungal and bacterial pathogens.
