Spider mite damage can start with tiny reddish brown spots on the leaves and overall yellowing of leaves of cucurbits. The symptoms start appearanign in hotspots in the field.

Symptoms rapidly progress under hot and dry conditions and leaves may develop large necrotic sections. The plants may start to develop severe blighting.

The necrotic sections and yellowing around the lesions and the entire may look similar to later stage symptoms of Cucurbit leaf crumple virus infection.

Plants in the field will show severe yellowing. Examining the underside of the leaves with hand lens or under a microscope is critical in identification of the tiny spider mite species.
