Fruits that are exposed to sun is highly susceptible to sunscald. Some fruits through the canopy or underside of the canopy that are naturally exposed to sunlight have higher chances of being affected.
Sunscalding can affect all stages of fruit growth. For example in the green fruit shown in the picture a small bleached section can be seen that is an early indication of the damage.
Plant diseases, pest or chemical injury can also cause severe defoliation that may expose fruits directly to sunlight thereby greater chances of sunscalding.
