The disease is a major issue in greenhouse or protected structure production. The disease can also be seen in open field in some varieties.

As the name indicated a white layer of talcum like growth can be observed on upper side of the leaves sometime covering the whole plant.

Symptoms of white growth can also be seen in other plant parts including flower buds.

The first symptom is usually noticed on lower leaves are vein-limited yellowing of the leaves.

The yellow chlorotic sections turn to blister like appearance with white powdery growth on it.

Advanced yellowing, and powdery formation on upper and lower side of the leaves can lead to burned appearance and defoliation.
