The disease has the characteristic symptom of rapid wilting of the leaves typically during the mid to late stage for a spring crop, and early during fall crop. Collapse of the vines in large sections of the field can be noticed.
Fruits tend to have an uneven shape, and sometimes have discoloration of the rind. This directly affects marketability.
When fruits are cut, internal yellowing in the flesh can be seen which is a common symptom associated with the disease.
SqVYV is mostly present in mixed infection with other cucurbit viruses including CuLCrV, CYSDV, and others. Each of these viruses are associated with causing fruit symptoms.
